    Windows 7 users

Take a copy of \Application Data\Skype\ folder to a safe location (from your previous installation)

login to Skype at-least once on the new installation
You will see a folder in C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Skype\

rename this Skype user name folder to username.old
copy back the previously backed up Skype folder here C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Skype\
    Login to Skype again

What if you have significant chat history on the other computer as well? Isn’t there a way to achieve this by merging and not overwriting?

  14. techgist — April 13, 2011 at 10:23 pm

You can’t merge chat history so better backup the latest copy of your chat history and restore it.
